Subject: Downloading Cakewalk and Comparing it with Midisoft
Having not logged in all that many hours on the net, I had some difficulty
finding and downloading the demo files for Cakewalk. For the one or two
others who may have similar problems, here is how I did it:
1. Open fsp to cica.cica.indiana.edu (preferably off hours)
2. cd to /pub /pc /starter and using binary get the unzipping file
pkz204e.exe (this is the only pkunzip I found to work, though
I didn't try pkz204g.exe, the one in the epas files.
3. cd to /pub /pc /win3 /demo and binary download wincake1.zip and
wincake2.zip
4. Transfer these to two separate pc files, -----\disk1, and -----\disk2,
respectively.
5. Transfer pkz204e.exe, and run it to self-extract. Use this PKUNZIP in
the two above files to unzip Cakewalk.
6. Run setup from the ---\disk1 directory. It will start windows &
install itself. The only special action is putting in the windows
drivers; the two of them are located on ---disk1.
This demo version does not print music, nor save it. Although it has a
few more controls than Midisoft Recording Session, I find the latter
incomparably easier to use. If Midisoft will only work out a few bugs:
inability to do triplets, or to force chords into existing tied notes, I
think it will be adequate for almost any need.
Incidentally, if anyone who has used Midisoft has read this far, I have
developed a problem with it in that the patches for drums do not appear
any more. I've checked .ini files etc., but they don't appear when
instrument and channel is selected. They are playing ok when they appear
in a song (e.g., one cooked up on Power Chords). Any suggestions would
be gratefully appreciated. Good GUSling, Emory Menefee.

Subject: MusicWare Piano software.
Hi,
With the recent announcement by Gravis of the Gravis Personal Piano
System, I was wondering if anyone has actually used Musicware's
Piano (the software package that Gravis is bundling).
Any insights?

=>With First-class postage yet.

=>Anyway, the flyer is advertising a product called Musicware Piano.

=>Anyway, the price is $99. I don't have a KB at this point, so I'm not

Can anyone tell me the addresses or the fax numbers of companies in the USA
or the UK that distributes/retails this Musicware Piano Tutor?

It's on epas (PCPRODEM.ZIP) if anyone is looking for it. I'd appreciate it if
someone who has direct Net access could ftp it to other suitable sites...
Okay, here's the lowdown on Power Chords Pro upgrades.
Gravis UltraSound owners and Power Chords 1.0 owners can upgrade for $75.00 US
Power Chords 1.1 owners can upgrade for $60.00 US
Shipping is included in these prices.
Minor upgrade revisions to Power Chords Pro are being distributed free - the
latest version will be going out this week to all registered users, including
the new 120 page manual, to those who got the preliminary version.
When more significant upgrades to Power Chords Pro are available, registered
users will be able to upgrade for a reasonable fee. I can't specify the fee
now - it depends on the amount of added functionality, and whether the list
price of the product changes.
For those who might have 'mislaid' the upgrade notice in the GUS box here's
